📰 The big story

Big companies are deciding where AI agents can go.

What happened

  • JPMorgan: blocks outside agents from operating customer accounts. Agents cannot send money or pay bills. kucoin

  • Citi and Bank of America: both restrict agent access. digg

  • Schwab: blocks agents that move money, including Meta’s Muse. It offers read-only access on its own terms. thenextweb

  • Amazon: blocked Muse from shopping. getcoai

  • Shopify: went the other way. It partnered with Muse and earns on each sale. getcoai

Why it matters

Banks say it is about security. There is also money at stake: agents could move cash to higher-paying accounts.

The web is splitting in two. Some companies open a controlled door and charge for it. Others lock it.

If your agents touch accounts, plan for read-only access and approval steps.

📡 On our radar

⚡ AI power in Europe
Microsoft has pulled out of a major UK AI data center, the Telegraph reports. The site may not get grid power until the 2030s.
Nscale, the developer, says its other Microsoft contracts are not affected. Power, not chips, may set the pace for AI in Europe.

🏛️ US AI rules

💬 Latestly AI Take

The question used to be what AI agents can do. Now it is where they are allowed to go. Banks locked the door. Shopify opened one and charges a fee. Access is becoming a product. If you build agents, plan for permission. Don’t assume it.
